Kevin Lackey,MPA
Owner | Designer's Warehouse
Kevin Lackey, a Wilmington native, brings a wealth of diverse professional experience to his role as founder of Designer’s Warehouse. A 2005 graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) with a degree in business management, Kevin began his career as a superintendent for a local builder. There, he managed permits and built lasting relationships with subcontractors, contributing to his team’s first-place recognition in the Wilmington Parade of Homes.

Kevin’s career later took him to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he worked for a privately held technology company designing action cameras, mobile apps, and video-editing software. Beyond his professional achievements, he embraced Hawaii’s natural beauty, spending his free time surfing at Velsyland and diving the Sea Tiger.

In 2015, Kevin returned to North Carolina to pursue his Master of Public Administration at UNCW, graduating at the top of his class. This experience deepened his understanding of how policy influences business opportunities and strategies.
​
Following graduate school, Kevin played a key role in Brunswick County's economic development initiatives. Over five years, he collaborated with regional warehousing and distribution facilities, addressing challenges such as workforce flexibility, operational refinement, software integration, facility layout, permitting, relocation, and securing grant funding for expansion.
​
During this time, Kevin also supported the growth of a local interior design firm, gaining valuable insights into the unique needs of the industry. He learned firsthand the importance of meticulous care, responsiveness, transparency, and genuine partnership in handling clients’ furnishings—essential elements of delivering a luxury experience.

Leveraging his diverse expertise, extensive network, and vision, Kevin founded Designer’s Warehouse. More than just a warehouse, it serves as a seamless extension of a designer’s team, providing tailored solutions that support the interior design community.
​
